she was sitting on the beach when I found her.
God told me to come here, she said.
I believed her.
she smiled and continued, the waves are like Jesus. persistant, taking bits and pieces of us at a time until He has claimed us all.
she blushed and tucked her knees to her chest.
sometimes, she began, I'm afraid to give it all.
I nodded.
then I spoke :
many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.
her eyes closed and she pursed her lips. after a long while she whispered her thanks.
I replied in time, stars wouldn't burn as bright as the fire in your eyes. you are beauty and you are grace. there hasn't a smile pass from my lips until I heard your voice.
so I called out to the sea, dear angels sing on, for she deserves stars for her own.
she unraveled herself from the waves and opened her eyes. I am yours, she said.
she stood quickly and began walking across the sandy shores. she turned several times and asked, are you not mine? are we not one? my Darling, take my hand and let us walk into forever.
I stood not in waiting but in anticipation. underneath the faraway pier I saw you and I before an altar of on into tomorrow.
my Love, I called, there ahead lies our beauty. there ahead lies our hope. let us discover enternity.
together we tremble with fear.
together we eagerly stare off into the sunset.
together we stumble towards it.
the sun blinked green across the horizon. the stars unfolded across the sky. the fog rolled in and enveloped our two lone bodies. wave crashed all around.
our lips met where we fell and the night birds sang :
...and tomorrow became forever.
